Arriving in the final with a spotless record, the Mavericks had been the benchmark team all tournament. The Eastern Rush fought valiantly through their side of the draw to earn their spot in the last dance, but on finals day the Mavericks were simply unstoppable.
Ayesha Dang and Bee Horsley set the tone immediately for Melbourne. With composed resets, sharp hands, and tactical discipline, they outclassed Millie Smythe and Tayah Cross, taking a decisive 21–10 victory and giving the Mavericks the perfect start.
The Mavericks doubled down in the men’s match, where Nic Maleganeas and Daike Tanabe combined beautifully to keep Thomas Lashford and Oli Gray on the back foot. With steady pressure and smart execution, Melbourne took the second game 21–14, building a commanding 2–0 lead.
With the title in reach, Ayesha Dang and Daike Tanabe stepped onto the court fully locked in. Their chemistry was undeniable. Dang’s control at the kitchen and Tanabe’s finishing touch overwhelmed Oli Gray and Millie Smythe.
