Hi Somer! We are so excited to chat with you about all things PPA and MLP Australia! First up, with Melbourne Championships fast approaching, how are you gearing up for it? Are there any specific aspects of your game or training you're focusing on right now?
With Melbourne Champs right around the corner, I am trying to hone down on some doubles practice and focus on hitting specific spots on the court. I am also taking the time to recover after the last two tournaments to my body some rest!
Rest and recovery is definitely an important factor that sometimes gets put in the back seat behind training. But you have had an impressive season so far! With a doubles gold and a singles silver in Vietnam, plus a singles gold in the Gold Coast; What do you think has been the key to maintaining such a strong performance across these events?
I think training in the gym and building strength and fitness in that aspect has really helped me be able to last in long matches! I also really enjoy being out on the courts and competing, which I believe has helped me stay calm in close matches.
You definitely give off the "cool calm and collected" vibe when we watch your matches! You're also captain of the Northern Crocs and have already claimed the overall victory in Season One of MLP Australia this year, and your team just took home the trophy for the Vietnam Open (the second stop of Season 2!). How's the team feeling heading into the final event of the year, and do you think a repeat title is in reach?
The team is feeling great heading into the championships for Season Two. Everyone has been working super hard and we are all excited to compete one last time together this season! There are a lot of strong teams, but if we bring our A-Game we definitely have a shot of a repeat championship!
Looking forward to 2025, we have announced there wil be over $1million in prize money across the MLP and PPA Tour here in Australia, can we expect to see you back in action for 2025 representing? And do you have any other big goals for the new year?
I am definitely looking forward to 2025 and excited to see the growth in the sport, and even just how much it has grown in 1 year! I am planning on competing in MLP and PPA Australia events next year! May be looking to do some international tournaments also, but we'll see whats in the books closer to the start of 2025!
